Boys and girls basketball games scheduled against the Cimarrón Rams and Lady Rams Dec. 17 have been postponed due to the ongoing water situation in Questa. The games were set to take place in the “Mini-Pit” in the afternoon and evening, but will be played at an unspecified date.

The postponement of the games could push competition for the Questa basketball teams into 2017, as the next scheduled contests are on the road against the Springer Red Devils and Lady Red Devils Jan. 3. Both Questa teams are slated to compete in the Northern Río Grande (NRG) tournament Jan. 5-7.

The latest update from the village of Questa is as follows:

“Operations continued over the weekend and drilling and casing of the new well was completed on Sunday, Dec. 11. The well reached a depth of 500 feet and work continues on development, testing and inspection. Our outlook for recharging the system is five to eight days. Taos Municipal Schools will make the [Taos] High School gym available from 3-5 p.m. for Questa residents in need of water facilities. The Taos Youth [and Family] Center, High Altitude Health & Fitness of Taos and the Faith Mountain Fellowship Church in Red River [are] also available to Questa residents.”

Athletic Director Paul Passino has indicated that updates and announcements will be provided to The Taos News as they become available.
