It’s time, and more, for New Mexico to join many, many other nations and grow industrial hemp — which is not, not, not marijuana!
Hemp is one of the oldest crops in the world, and is widely used for fabric, cosmetics, building materials, rope and many other products. Gov. Martinez’s contention that hemp should not be grown in New Mexico because it might be difficult to tell the difference between industrial hemp and the marijuana plant is sheer ignorance. Nations all over the world have learned the difference; are New Mexicans stupider than anyone else?
