Kit Carson donates to Questa food pantry

Posted

During lean times for many Taos County families, food pantries come through with help.

The all-volunteer North Central Food Pantry is a good example of community coming through for community. It has been successfully serving Questa families and those from surrounding areas for more than two years.

The food pantry’s treasury received a boost Jan. 27 when Bobby Ortega, chairman of Kit Carson Electric Co-op and representative for District 2, delivered a check for $1,000.

Ortega reinforced that Kit Carson’s mission is not only to provide power to its customers, but also to serve the communities by assisting nonprofit organizations.

The food pantry invites the public to participate in food distribution on the second and fourth Friday of every month between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The food pantry is located next to Questa Head Start and the senior center on top of the hill off State Road 522.

Organizers say even small donations are welcome and very much appreciated. To donate, send a check payable to “North Central Food Pantry” to P.O. Box 1076, Questa, NM 87556.
