Known for community service, Super Save manager set to retire

The longtime manager of Taos’ Super Save grocery store is getting ready to retire. The store has been purchased by Lowe’s Market of Littlefield, Texas, and ownership officially changes Jan. 27.

Residents of Taos and customers of Super Save say Rusty Russell has been a huge supporter of community efforts over the years. He has been the store manager since 1999.

“Super Save has been the ‘Business Unsung Hero’ for over a decade,” said Chris Baker, Taos News publisher. “They donate so much food and money to the community year after year and are often not recognized for it. Rusty is a class act.”

Russell has supported area booster clubs and church group projects through food pantries for more than a decade. He has also supported Taos Feeds Taos and the 4-H program.

Read more about Russell in our “Know Your Neighbor” feature by Kathy Córdova in the Jan. 12-18 edition of The Taos News.
