Questa water update: Test results expected Friday
A press release from the village of Questa states that progress is being made on restoring service to residents.
The release reads:
"Progress continues on efforts to bring the new well online. The initial water quality test results are expected back on Friday and the Village is working closely with the NM Environment Department on the processes for validating the work done to-date and the procedures required to restart the system. At this time, we are unable to give an estimate when the system will be brought back online."
"Over the next few days, crews will be inspecting the pressure regulators to insure they are performing to specifications and checking the lines and hydrants for leaks. This will require a complete shutdown of the system on Friday, leaving all users of the system without water during the inspection, which is expected to last about an hour and a half."
"The National Weather Service is predicting a front to arrive in the area on Friday bringing much colder temperatures and the possibility of snow to the region. If this occurs, we are advising residents to take precautions and prepare for colder weather."
"A strategic plan to recharge and restart the system is being developed. The plan is to proceed in stages to bleed the lines of air and distribute the flow of water safely to homes and businesses. The Village will issue guidance and instructions for residents to prepare their homes for the restart. "
"The boil water advisory and the conservation request to residences and businesses on the municipal water system remain in effect. The Administrative Offices remain the distribution location for bottled and non-potable water and open to residents from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, including the weekend."
"The village is seeking community volunteers to help deliver supplies to homebound residents. Please contact Village of Questa personnel at (575) 586-0694 or (575) 586-0697 to volunteer or with any questions or issues."
