Taos photographer’s El Salto image to be featured in Nat Geo calendar
A photo of El Salto Mountain, near Arroyo Seco, will be featured in the “National Geographic Engagement Calendar” for 2017.
The photographer who captured the image is Glory Ann Penington, of Taos.
Penington said National Geographic officials found the image on her website. “The daughter of a former colleague in Maine is the book editor for Nat Geo,” said Penington. “She was visiting her mother and they were reviewing my websites. She then invited me to send her several images to consider, and it was selected.”
It is the featured image for the month of November.
Penington has lived in Taos for about three years – after visiting the town for four decades.
“I always knew I would be here and am grateful every day to have finally arrived,” she said. Penington previously served at the Harwood Museum of Art as director of visitor services and museum store manager.
The calendar can be ordered online at ngbooks.buysub.com. Contact Penington through her website, photosbyglory.pixels.com.
