Taos schools on two-hour delay Dec. 23
After a day filled with snow and rain in the Taos area, Taos Municipal Schools will be on a two-hour delay Friday, officials said late Thursday.
Charter schools in the Taos area typically adhere to the delays and closures of Taos schools, however, Taos Charter School and Vista Grande have elected to close for the day. Other schools that typically follow suit include Taos Day School and Taos Pueblo Head Start.
Snow rolled into Taos County and the northern mountains in the early morning hours Thursday, and continued to fall throughout most of the day, with several inches of snow accumulation.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the area until noon Friday.
The chance for snow is expected to decrease throughout the day Friday, with a high of 40 degrees expected at about 3 p.m. A clearing trend is expected for Christmas Eve, with little chance for precipitation and a high in the low 40s for Taos.
The forecast for Christmas Day includes a 60 percent chance for snow showers to return, with a high of 29 degrees for Taos.
