Thank you to the Taos community
I recently spent a month at the Standing Rock Reservation in support of the water protectors. While I was there, I was amazed and honored to be a part of your community as the Taos presence was very much a part of that experience.
Not only did I see several of you there, volunteering your time, skills, warmth (wood burning stoves, wood and clothing), but I also was touched by other gifts, as I sorted through the food donations at Rosebud, one of the small camps I stayed at, where I stumbled across a bag of oatmeal donated by the Snowmansion in Seco, and several bags of Taos Roasters coffee. Your prayers and support filled my heart from so far away. I am proud to be a part of your community, as your love for people, land and water is something that I have observed during my three years of residence here.
Beautiful things happened during my stay at Standing Rock, as I saw a community form — where everyone’s needs were met from food, clothing, shelter, warmth and healing — all because of the love, prayers and gifting from the hearts of people like you. As I returned, I was blessed with a welcoming of open arms, firewood and some financial assistance to help me get back on my feet after being out of work for a month.
I feel blessed to be a part of your community. Together, may we continue to honor the land, water and people!
