HERKIMER – Cincinnatus took down the Eagles 1-0 on Friday during the Class D girls soccer regional final.

Downsville topped South Kortright 3-0, last Monday in the Section IV Class D championship game to advance to the quarterfinal.

“Overall, I thought we played extremely well against a very good opponent that had highly skilled players all over the field,” Downsville head coach Burt Reed said of the game on Friday. “I felt that defensively, we held our shape and kept them out wide for large parts of the game. Offensively, we struggled once in the final third, against the wall they built with defenders. We needed to get in behind earlier in the attack and also get the ball wide and keep it there. We had a tendency to cut the ball back into the middle and when we did that, we were met with a wall of defenders.”
