Trump election shows ugly underside
The sad reality of who we are as a nation was revealed by the election of Donald Trump as our next president. This is a man who is an avowed racist and misogynist. He sees women mainly as sex objects. He is anti-black, anti-Hispanic, Islamophobic and homophobic.
He has a clear character disorder. He suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder. He can never admit he’s made a mistake and is incapable of making an honest apology for any of the sordid things he’s done.
Knowing his mistreatment of women, how could any woman vote for him? Yet, millions did. So, our nation has elected a bully, a braggart, a cheat and a swindler. What does that say about our nation that so many of us must admire these traits?
He has shown no interest in democratic principles or the rule of law. He has been sued many times for corrupt business practices and still has cases pending against him. What if he were convicted? Would he try to govern from a jail cell or just issue himself a pardon?
Those who voted for him show a callous disregard for integrity and equal treatment of all our citizens. As a nation, we have just taken a huge step away from the values we claim to uphold.
By electing Trump, the United States has shown the world its ugly underside, and who can be proud of that?
