Teacher, students pull through for grandmas
Guadalupe Aguilera, who works at Ranchos Elementary School in Ranchos de Taos, said she’s had the pleasure of working with teacher Donna Lee Vigil.
For 12 years, Aguilera said, Vigil and her class have filled boxes that they decorate like turkeys with food for the grandmas who work at the school for Thanksgiving to help brighten their holiday.
“I think it would be a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge this teacher and her students for giving back to the community and for helping them out,” said Aguilera.
The grandmas received their boxes Nov. 21.
Aguilera shared a quote from Vigil about the work she does. “For 12 years, instead of doing Taos Feeds Taos, we do it in appreciation for the foster grandmothers who service our school. They don’t make much coming to work here, so this just helps them with extra food for the holidays,” Vigil said.
